In no particular order of importance, I predict that
the Seattle Mariners will make the playoffs and win
the World Series.

Since Carl's comments on September 4th the Mariners
have gone 5-7 and the Oakland A's have surged well
into first place with a record of 8-5. To make
matters worse, the Mariners have also dropped out of
first in the chase for the Wild Card. I put the blame
squarely on the shoulders of Carl Westberg who claims
to be a Mariner faithful. I believe that he is a
false prophet. The true Mariner believers that I know
faithfully follow the team and root for them in their
own personal way. Carl, on the other hand, is "in
your face", passes out Mariner's literature, and even
goes so far as to preach about the Mariners on the
local radio station. Don't believe him folks, he's
out to jinx the M's and so far his tactics are
working. Carl is like an Albatross around the neck of
the once formidable Seattle team and he must be
purged. I move that he should be removed from the
list lest he continue to lure us down the road to
defeat all the while outwardly attempting to convert
us true believers into some type of a Mariner's cult
following.

As a young boy in 1973, I witnessed Jim Bibby of the
Texas Rangers hurl a no hitter against the Oakland
Athletics. I'm sure if Carl had been in the stands
that night, he would have stood up with 2 outs in the
9th and yelled something like, "Hey everyone! Get up
and cheer! This guy is on the verge of a no-hitter!
A no-hitter! I've never seen anything like it!". And
sure enough, Carl's jinx would have broken up the
no-hitter and I would have not seen anything like it.
I'll be at the Oakland Coliseum this Sunday to watch
the M's take on and defeat the A's. This is my
prediction.
