Regarding the recent V2020 discussion of gender-separated classes and public
education, I thought it would be worth noting that the winner of the 2003
National Spelling Bee attends a private boys' school in Dallas, Texas
(http://www.smtexas.org/).

For more info on the bee, which finished today, see
http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2003-05-29-spelling-bee_x.htm.

Also worth noting, I guess, is that the second place national Spelling Bee
winner is homeschooled. As is the winner of this year's 2003 National
Geography Bee. As was the winner of last year's National Geography Bee. As
were the winners of the 2001, 2000 and 1997 National Spelling Bees.

What is this nation coming to? Do we have educational diversity or don't
we?

Right, right, not everyone can afford private education, and not everyone
has the time or the finances to homeschool. The question is, do we care
about the children? Do we care enough to ensure they get a top-notch
quality education, no matter what the cost?
