It appears at this time that the city is going forward with its plans to
build a basketball coliseum next to the pool, despite the lack of
community support for this project. Can anyone provide answers to the
following questions in regard to this unwanted project?
Is there a verbal description of what is going to be built? This should
be descriptively detailed, but not just based on architectural plans.
Is there a cost breakdown based on the above detail? For example, I
understand from rumor that the city is going to locate the building just
far enough away to require new, separate locker rooms. How much do
these unneeded locker rooms cost?
What will be the yearly operating expenses for the coliseum, and where
does the city see the money coming from to pay for these expenses?
How much was the original Hamilton bequest? What is its current value?
What has the city spent Hamilton finds on so far, and how much per item?
If the city finds the need for an adult basketball center to be so
great, why doesn't the city ask for a bond levy to support such a
project, instead of spending funds meant for the community's children?
