I was wondering if anyone knew offhand if the private schools are all day
kindergarten programs or half day? I am surprised that the public school
kindergarten is only half days.

Public schools seeing more kindergartners

Seattle public schools have attracted a steadily rising share of
kindergarten-age children over the past six years, a new analysis by the
school district shows.

Administrators believe a dramatic increase in all-day kindergarten
programs has played a key role in wooing back students who previously
would have attended private schools or would have been home-schooled.

"Applications are up, and up strongly, despite the travails of the
district in the past year. More people chose Seattle public schools,"
Superintendent Joseph Olchefske said yesterday.

The number of applications for enrollment in all Seattle public schools
rose by 331 this spring. With 47,000 students, Seattle is the state's
largest school district.
