I tend to agree. "Free" only means that somebody else pays for it.

I hate to break this to you, but we spent $985,500,000 for the Idaho
Government Schools in 2003.
That's *anything* but "free".
It would be more accurate to say that we don't charge a tuition for the
$985,500,000 worth of education that we give away.
But, for accuracy, it's *anything* but free!
Best,

John,
I never said it was free, I said it was "free" (i.e. we don't pay tuition,
but I'm not so unedumacated that I don't realize I already pay for it --
heck, why do you think I use it?).
puttin' enough words in my own mouth,

Whoa!
John Danahy and Dan Carscallen are making the claim that Public Education
is supposed to free.
I help pay for public education, and not by my choice.
The money is forcibly taken from me and then given to only one of the five
educational systems that everyone here on this board has agreed that exist.
I still don't understand that when there are five choices that parents can
make regarding educating their children, I am forced to help pay for one of
those. I dont get any choice as to where my money goes.
No, all education should be "tuition" based. Let the best educational
choice win!
I am pro-choice for education.
Cheers!
