I presided over a professional academic society meeting this past weekend in
Portland. At the end of the day, I remarked that it had just dawned on me
that I had spent the whole day without even once thinking about the war.
Most everyone present jolted with the awareness that they too had had a day
of total respite from the war news.
Being away from tv certainly helped. But for those with tvs, aren't there
still some stations showing 'I Love Lucy' reruns right now? Nick at Night or
something? Let's all rent some old Ronald Regan 'Bonzo' movies and get
together this weekend for a little escape over at my place. Whatd'ya say??
