Doug Jones writes:

"Trinitarianism, etc., etc."

Ah, what a handy thing that Trinitarianism is. So versatile. If it look=
ed good in high heels and made pleasant conversation, I=E2=80=99d marry i=
t.
 =20
I am not a Christian, as I have said before, but I am certainly familiar =
with the various editions/translations of the Christian bible. It seems =
to me that Jesus is very clear on this turn the other cheek business. No=
where does he offer a comfortable exemption for men whose sisters pick fi=
ghts in alleys.
 =20
I=E2=80=99ve always found Christianity to be a tough religious philosophy=
. Jesus called upon his believers to follow a divine example, not their =
natural human instincts. I admire the devout who, in the face of constan=
t provocation, manage to maintain consistent peace testimonies. How much=
easier (and human?) to look for loopholes.
 =20
There is no contradiction in my own philosophy on this point. It=E2=80=99=
s an eye for an eye with extra pinches for flinching. If you hit my sist=
er, I=E2=80=99ll hit you. Hard. Still, I'm a good Samaritan. You can r=
est assured, Doug, that if I come across someone pounding on you in an al=
ley, I=E2=80=99ll intervene on your behalf. Unless, of course, it=E2=80=99=
s part of a boxing club fundraiser.
