The Kurds aren't going to do it anyway (http://www.gulf-
news.com/Articles/news.asp?ArticleID=75648). Maybe they still remember that 
time, back in the 70s, when us, Iran, and Israel supplied them with goodies. We 
abruptly stopped the supply and watched them get thrashed by Saddam.
