[Vision2020] firestation

I think the neighbors of the new firestation have a legitimate beef.
A group of citizens living at the Quail Run subdivision north of
Moscow are upset at the decision to put the new firestation in their
neighborhood.
The problem with the placement of the firestation is that the
building and its impact on the neighborhood are very different now than
what the voters of Moscow agreed to in the bond measure to pay for it.
During the bond election, voters were told that the firestation
would be built into the hillside adjacent to Highway 95 at Pintail Drive
(the entrance street to the Quail Run subdivision). At that location
the building and its noises would point toward Highway 95 and the
neighborhood would be sheltered by the remaining hillside, protecting
those who live at Quail Run from disruption.
However, after the bond passed, the location changed. The
firestation is now going to be built on a flat site on the other side of
Pintail Drive, facing the homes and not sheltered by the hillside.
Anyone who visits the neighborhood can see that it is a very different
location in terms of impacting the Quail Run neighborhood.
Changing horses in midstream--that just doesn't seem fair to those
who now will live next to a noisy firestation.
