I have finished listening to Douglas Wilson's lectures at the 1996
History Conference.
One of his lectures is "The Foresight of the Fathers." The Father in
this case seems to be largely R.L. Dabney, who Wilson feels predicts the
ills of the future.
One of R.L. Dabney's essays Wilson discusses is "Women's Rights Women."
Wilson largely quotes from it to condemn the conservative movement. But
prior to attacking the Republican party he has some comments about
women's suffrage.
Wilson feels it is the triumph of individualism, and doesn't give women
the vote so much as to take the vote away from households, voted by the
head of the household. If the husband and wife vote the same way, it is
a simple doubling of the same vote, and if the husband and wife vote in
opposition, the household loses its vote because it is cancelled. This
is a brief synopsis.
Perhaps Douglas Wilson can discuss "Women's Rights Women" by Dabney.
