Visionaries:

There have been complaints from local agencies including law enforcement that
money from the Feds to help local entities meet their Home Land security
obligations had not yet arrived at the local scene. In checking with the
Governor's office and with Latah County officials I learned that the County
will be receiving about $173,000 worth of equipment this coming year and
probably the same amount of support for the next two fiscal years.

The type of equipment includes repeaters (radio), lap top computers, hand
held radios, bio chemical detection equipment, etc. Most of our
local communities, the Sheriff's Office, Moscow Police, and several
other entities
will be receiving this equipment. The bright spot of the equipment is that
it can also be used to enhance law enforcement, fire fighting, and other
duties regularly carried out by our local agencies.
