The small park at the South Couplet in Moscow (where Troy Highway
intersects Highway 95) was filled with flowers all summer (and made a
very attractive entry point -- thanks to the city parks department), and
now has a public parking lot built on its north side.
That site seems like an ideal place for a visitor information kiosk.
The south side of Moscow needs such a welcoming station.
Several other communities I have visited have such kiosks, of various
shapes and sizes. These kiosks are generally not staffed, but are small
shelters with a variety of flyers and brochures on racks--all
information about local services, accommodations, recreational sites,
etc. It would be a nice place to display posters about seasonal
activities (ice skating rink, swimming pool) or events (jazz fest,
Renaissance Fair, etc).
Usually the kiosks are built with travel council grant money and
maintained by the local chambers of commerce ....maybe the same thing
could happen here.
