  Visionaries:

Here are a few questions for that mighty man of God, Douglas Wilson,
whose "fixed standard" just might need some fixing.

Ten years ago I pilfered a couple of hundred dollars from the church for
personal business (I didn't wear a condom, but I did leave IOUs in the
drawer). By what standard can I sanitize my theft and refer to the
stolen money as "advanced royalties"?

An officer of the church has a son who opened an illegal casino and
gouged fellow believers out of thousands of dollars. By what standard
should I take church funds to cover up their debts?

When I saw the topless car wash last summer, my righteous indignation
burnt so hot that that I doctored the "Welcome to Moscow" sign on the
Pullman highway to say "Welcome to Hooters."
<http://www.vision2020.moscow.com/Archives/2002/0207/msg00003.html> What
fixed standard should I appeal to when I justify vandalizing public
property in order to leave the false impression that someone else
actually committed a crime, because I needed plausible deniability to
grandstand on vision20/20 and the Daily News?

As a Christian pastor, I point mankind to the fixed standard of the
Bible. Despite my calling, however, I can't stop myself from making
false representations all over town
<http://www.credenda.org/issues/11-3meander.php>. What fixed standard
can I use to browbeat infidels on the one hand, but rationalize my
hypocrisy on the other?
