Dear Parents,

Students are now well into the routine of the second semester of the
2009-10 school year. New schedules, classes, and routines began on
January 25th. Most students had a seamless transition, but the new
schedule did cause some student confusion reading their new schedules
resulting in double lunches for a few students on the first day of the
new semester. No one seemed to complain about that problem!

This is a short week for students with Friday, February 12, being an
important day for teachers and no school for students. Multiple
trainings will be taking place to help teachers understand updates and
changes to the work they do with all students. Monday, February 15, is
President's Day and is a holiday for all Moscow School District students
and staff members. School begins again on Tuesday, February 16, and is
scheduled as a regular day for all students who attend the Moscow School
District.

With Valentine's Day rapidly approaching, we get more deliveries for
students. We recommend that valentine's treats be delivered to the home
or other appropriate location outside of the school day. Our office is
a busy place and we just don't have the manpower to deliver a large
number of items to students in classrooms. In addition, candy and other
items in the classroom can become a disruption. We thank you for your
support with this particular activity.

The Winter MJHS All-School Dance takes place this Thursday night from
6:00-8:00 p.m. If you would like to chaperone, Mr. Hill is still taking
volunteers. Please send him an email or call the office to let him know
you are coming. We also provide multiple teacher chaperones to ensure
that this activity is safe and appropriate for our student population.
This dance has the added attraction of some video game options, so it
should be an active and fun opportunity for our students.

By now you should have received your son or daughter's first semester
Report Card, the third edition of the Cub Communicator, and a special
brochure to help parents and students understand Internet safety, which
was published by students in one of Tiffany Scripter's English classes.
Mrs. Stewart, our school librarian, led the project to completion.
Additional information is also available at the MJHS website on the
library page. We have made it a priority to keep the website updated
with critical information that can help with everything from research to
calendar information.

All parents are invited to an "alcohol and drug trends training"
sponsored by the Latah Sheriff's Department. The training will occur on
April 15th from 4:30-8:30 p.m. and will be held in the Moscow High
School auditorium. Topics include: under age drinking/binge
drinking/new beverages/new methods of concealment/clothing, teen drug
use/indicators/trends/drug choices/new drugs/new methods of delivery.
The speaker is Officer Jermaine Galloway of the Boise Police Department.

As always, please give me a call or send an email if you have questions,
concerns, or comments regarding your son or daughter's experience at
MJHS.

Thank you for your continued support of our schools.

Sincerely,

Dale Kleinert, Principal

Moscow Junior High School
