Dear MJHS Parents,
We are winding up our school year quickly! The whole building is
vibrating with thoughts of summer, and our students are anxiously
watching the Hamilton-Lowe Aquatic Center for signs of opening for the
summer swimming season. The last ten days of school are always busy
with "end of year" activities, yet we remain focused on completing our
academic rigor with an emphasis on helping students be successful.
Please check PowerSchool regularly to support your son or daughter in
their efforts to complete homework, projects, and final exams. Report
cards and a final issue of the Cub Communicator will be mailed home the
week after school is dismissed. Since this is the end of the school
year, we will not be able to offer an "Incomplete" option for students
to have time to turn in assignments and projects for a late grade.
Our activities calendar is posted below, and you will see that our
Yearbook signing party happens next Thursday right after school in the
Fieldhouse. Students who pre-purchased a Yearbook will receive it
during the party and they will have a chance to sign and visit until
4:00 p.m. Students who did not pre-purchase a yearbook will have an
opportunity to purchase beginning at 8:00 on Friday morning. At that
time we will have a special line at the office to purchase yearbooks for
$21.00. (No early sales-first come first served) Please remind your
son or daughter to keep close track of their new Yearbook and not let it
"move" through groups of students who may not sign and write
appropriately. We will also spend time at school to encourage students
to be positive when they write notes in their friend's Yearbooks.
Thursday, May 28 is "Bicycle Ride to School Day". We spent the month of
April rewarding safe riding skills and gave prizes to students who were
caught riding safely with helmets on their heads. Next week's activity
is organized by the safe routes to school committee.
This is a warning reminder that the "senior kegger" often takes place
during Memorial Day weekend and involves at least one, if not two
overnight stays. This event is illegal and can be very dangerous. It
most certainly is not limited to seniors as younger students and even
non student young adults participate. Camping is typical of this event.
The local police and county sheriff offices will be alerted and all tips
regarding location of this event will be shared with the law
enforcement. Please provide safe options and know where your children
are this weekend.
We also received a memo from the Idaho State Department of
Transportation to notify patrons of their "Click It or Ticket" national
mobilization efforts. Their message is to encourage seat belt usage.
So, buckle up every trip, every time! The enforcement of the seat belt
law happens all the time, but this special mobilization is taking place
from May 18 to May 31.
Thank you for all of your support and kind words this year. Please give
us a call if you have any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Dale Kleinert, Principal
Moscow Junior High School
