Dear Parents,
This will be a shorter than usual Principal's Letter to primarily let
you know that tonight's MJHS All-School dance is cancelled. We have
many conflicts with chaperones and don't feel that we can make it happen
without a complete cadre of adults to ensure success and safety. I'd
like to thank all of the parents who volunteered and I hope that the
chaperones can plan something special to take the place of this
evening's dance.
Spring time is always busy at MJHS. We have had an upswing in problems
with cell phones, IPods, MP3 players, and other electronic devices. We
completely understand the need for families to be in contact via cell
phones. We also recognize that cell phones can be a disruption in
classrooms. We reminded students this week that they need to keep their
cell phones secure, and in the "off-position" from 8:00-3:00 each day.
Last week, some cell phones were taken from lockers and we did our best
to help get cell phones back to their rightful owners. As you can
imagine, tracking down a small device like a cell phone is not easy.
Our involvement in tracking down these devices is very time consuming
and not an efficient use of school time. We hope you can help us by
reminding your son or daughter to keep their cell phone secure in their
pocket or another place where other students can't get to it.
Devices such as IPods, MP3 players, and other expensive devices should
not be at school. There is no use for these expensive devices at school
and when they are stolen, we have no way to retrieve a device that is so
small. The school can not be responsible for the safe-keeping of
personal items that have no use at school and it is recommended that any
theft or loss be reported to the police by the owner. Even though the
school assumes no responsibility for personal items, please have your
son or daughter report theft or loss to the office, as lost items
sometimes are returned to the office.
The next several weeks are very busy as we begin to end large projects
and start the winding down of our academic year. All MJHS students are
now registered for the 2009-10 school year and we are busily developing
our Master Schedule and course selections for next year.
Several fieldtrips and activities are coming our way, including the Gold
Team Mall Project, and the Red Team GPS fieldtrip to Robinson Park.
Both trips take place on May 22. If you are available to chaperone
either of these trips, please contact one of the seventh grade teachers.
As always, please contact me if you have concerns, questions, or
information to share.
Sincerely,
Dale Kleinert, Principal
Moscow Junior High School
