Dear Parents,

Wow, this year is going by so fast. My last letter to you explained how
our ISAT schedule was going to work, and now we are completely done
testing. Our test schedule worked out just fine and we are now moving
into our final weeks of school.

Many of you are probably organizing summer activities. We get lots of
fliers and information about summer activities and we post the ideas in
the front hallway at MJHS. We have fliers for academic summer schools,
adventure camps, and other activities. If you have a few minutes to
peruse the MJHS Bulletin Board, you may find some useful information.
While you are in the main entrance, please have a look in the "Lost and
Found" closet for any items your son or daughter may have misplaced.

Most of our activities are winding down and now we are on our final push
to help students be academically successful during their last days in
school. It is likely that projects, daily work, and test preparation
will be included as homework in the next few weeks. Please support your
son or daughter with time for them to complete this work each evening.
If homework doesn't seem to be a priority for your son or daughter,
please have a look on PowerSchool to see what is due. The information
may help you understand how to support their study habits. If you still
have questions, please email or call the classroom teacher.

All of our students, including the incoming sixth graders, have
completed their pre-registration for the 2008-09 school year. We are
busily preparing the Master Schedule to best meet the needs of our
student population. Many classes are ability based, and the academic
level is defined by teacher recommendation, achievement test results,
and classroom work. Course placement is carefully considered and will
help your son or daughter be successful this coming year. The whole
process is complicated, yet we ensure that the services we offer are
personalized for each student.

The next few weeks bring many activities that are important for our
students. Activities and academic awards assemblies will happen, the
Yearbook will be distributed, and Drama and Music performances will be
enjoyed by our student body. Good behavior is stressed by teachers and
administration, and students who intentionally disrupt the educational
process will have disciplinary consequences up to and including
suspension. We have told students that they may be invited back to
school after others are enjoying the summer break if their behavior is
disruptive.

I would like to thank the Parent Support Team for their dedication this
year. They met once monthly at 7:15 a.m., they raised money for our new
stage curtains, breakfast and ice cream was served to our staff, the
Student Directory was published, and an important Parent Night was
organized. I would like to thank Peggy Jenkins for her leadership, and
I would also like to thank all of the parents who helped with projects,
chaperoning, and other activities throughout the school year.

I've placed our busy activities calendar at the bottom of this letter.
As always, thank you for the support of your children.

Sincerely,

Dale Kleinert, Principal
