Dear Parents,
This is a busy time for all of us at MJHS. This has been an especially
busy week with end of the year activities, along with the emotions that
we've all experienced over the shootings that took place last Saturday.
We have learned that the funeral for Moscow Police Department Officer
Lee Newbill is this Friday at 1:00. We are expecting that some families
will be taking their children out of school for the service. We will
not release students to anyone but their own parent, and if you attend
the service we strongly recommend that children attend with their
parent. Please notify the office on or before Thursday so that we can
pre-excuse and plan accordingly.
Half of our student body will be off campus participating in educational
experiences this Friday. If you plan to pick up your child early on
Friday from one of the fieldtrips for the memorial service, they can be
released around noon after being excused by a supervising teacher.
The following locations are designated as places where students will be
at noon on Friday. Please find a teacher who will be able to connect
you with your child.
Gold Team - Palouse Empire Mall
Blue Team - East City Park
Red Team - Phillip's Farm
If you plan to take your child out of school early this Friday, please
contact the office on Thursday or earlier to obtain a pre-excused
absence status.
This coming Monday is Memorial Day. School will not be in session that
day. Our last day of school for students is Wednesday, June 6. Please
see the calendar below to check out our final testing schedule.
On Thursday, May 31, at 3:00 p.m., MJHS students who purchased a
Yearbook can attend the "Yearbook Signing Party". At that time,
Yearbooks will be distributed and students will have the opportunity to
sign each other's Yearbook in a controlled, social setting. Please talk
to your son or daughter about protecting their Yearbook and what they
should and should not write. We try very hard to educate students and
help them understand that it is important to write "nice things". Your
help is needed for a positive experience. Students who did not
pre-purchase a Yearbook can buy one on Friday, June 1, beginning at 8:00
a.m. Supplies are limited.
We have notified students that the last few days are very important
days, and the priority is to be focused on academic success. We also
made it clear that students who disrupt the educational process during
the final days of school will be sent home, only to return and complete
their finals after others have begun their summer vacation. We have 600
incredible students at MJHS, and we want to ensure that they all have a
safe and academically successful end of the school year. We appreciate
your support.
Have a great Memorial Day weekend,
Dale Kleinert, Principal
