Dear Parents,
Happy Saturday!! I hope you are able to enjoy this beautiful day while
getting ready to "fall back" with your clocks. I always look forward to
getting an extra hour of sleep during this weekend. The clock change
always seems to happen when I need the rest.
I wanted to send this short newsletter for two reasons.
First, on behalf of the MJHS staff, we would like to thank the MJHS
Parent Support Team for the amazing breakfast that was served yesterday
morning. Our staff was treated to a beautiful assortment of breads and
other home-baked goods before they started their day. The spiced apple
cider was a huge hit, and we even have left-overs that were placed in
the freezer for next week. A special thank you goes to Connie Paris who
organized the whole thing. Her husband dutifully rode in the back of
the van to ensure that the two coffee pots full of cider made it the
junior high unscathed. The whole affair was very special, and our staff
enjoyed everything.
Secondly, I need to place emphasis on the upcoming
"Cyber-Bullying/Stand-up" activities that will happen here this coming
Monday, October 30. Students will participate in the "Stand-up" program
throughout the school day, and parents are invited to a very important
presentation Monday evening at 7:00 p.m., in our Multi-Purpose Room.
The presenter, Shanterra McBride, is a nationally known motivational
speaker, who will be speaking at only 20 schools nation-wide this year.
I strongly encourage all parents to clear their calendars and attend
this important event.
Electronic communcations have really changed the way all of us
communicate, and we need to ensure that we have the tools to help our
kids use this technology appropriately. A copy of the information is
included below. I'm thankful that MJHS Assistant Principal Kevin Hill,
and MJHS Parent Support Team Representative Faye Nagler, have taken the
time to organize and bring this event to MJHS.
Sincerely,
Dale Kleinert, Principal
Moscow Junior High School
Dear Moscow Teachers, Parents and Guardians:

What is cyber bullying?
While technology has certainly empowered young people today, it's also
opened the door to new forms of harassment. Cyber bullying is the use of
technology such as the Internet - email, blogging, instant messaging,
and social network sites like MySpace - and cell phones to degrade or
humiliate another person or group. According to a 2005 study, more than
40% of middle school students reported being the victim of a recent
cyber bully. Students are twice more likely to be bullied online than
they are face to face.

We look forward to seeing you at such an exciting and important event.
