Happy Belated Mother's Day! I hope all Mothers were able to take
advantage of the beautiful weather! It feels like summer and the
serious countdown has begun. This letter will bring updates regarding
the numerous activities that will happen during the next sixteen days of
school. If you are a seventh or eighth grade parent, you should have
information about the following fieldtrips:

Gold Team
The annual "Mall Project" will take place on Friday, May 26. Students
are using their researching, writing, visual display and presentation
skills to create a final project on a topic of their choosing. The
Palouse Empire Mall will provide a real, relevant, and responsive
environment for the students to demonstrate their skills to parents,
other students, and members of the community. We hope parents and
friends take a few minutes to stop by and view the 100 presentations
during the morning.

Red Team
The Red Team will travel to the Phillip's Farm on Friday, May 26, for
their Discovery Fieldtrip. Students will be using global positioning
units to engage in outdoor problem solving activities. The day will be
full of discovery related events and cooperative learning activities.

Blue Team
The Blue Team will travel to the Palouse River for their
interdisciplinary field trip on Tuesday, May 23. The experience gained
from this trip to the mining area will not only enhance student's
knowledge of early Northwest and Idaho history, but provide multiple
opportunities to study Science, English, and Mathematics related topics.

Silver Team
The Silver Team recently completed the "Diary of Anne Frank" experience.
They traveled to the Kenworthy theatre where they viewed the film as a
culmination of their unit on the Holocaust, World War Two, and the
Japanese Internment camps.

During our final school days, we will recognize hundreds of our students
at our two final awards assemblies. The activities, athletics, and
academic awards are far too numerous to list here, but it is safe to say
that we have had an incredibly successful year. The Activities Awards
Assembly will be held this coming Thursday, May 18 at 9:50 a.m.
Students who participated in spring activities will be recognized during
this all-school event. =20

The final Academic Awards Assembly will be held on Friday, June 2 at
12:45. At this event, we will recognize school-wide academic
achievement while giving our ninth graders their final send-off to
Moscow High School. The MJHS Parent Support Team will provide a
reception for the ninth grade class following the assembly.

We've provided an extensive calendar of activities with this letter.
Included on the calendar is the final exam schedule. We focus our last
three days on final exams, and encourage students to pace themselves in
such a way that they can be successful. Please help them by providing a
structured study time each evening.

Finals and other end of the year activities are stressful times for
students and staff alike. We do our best to provide a studious
atmosphere so that students are able to be successful. Students who
disrupt the educational process on the final days could find themselves
suspended from school and then coming back to complete their school-year
after others have gone home for the summer.

This is the final Bi-Weekly Principal's letter of the school year. I'd
like to thank all parents, students, and the Moscow School District
staff for helping us keep MJHS the very best it can be. You will
receive one more general mailing at the end of the school year.
Included in that mailing will be the results of the spring ISAT's, a
report card, and a Cub Communicator. As always, please contact us if
