Dear Parents,=20

=20

We're well into the fourth quarter of the 2005-06 school
year, and it seems that it was just yesterday when we met together at
Back-To-School Night. Since then, we've held four school dances, had
multiple all-school assemblies, and more music, drama, athletic, and
other activities than we can count. We've upgraded our building
technology by either replacing or upgrading every machine in the
building during the past two years, and later this spring five of our
veteran teachers will retire. It has been an exciting and rewarding
school year, and we are proud of the accomplishments that our students
have made.

Over the next two weeks we will finish our spring ISAT
session. We've noticed that students really tried to do their best on
these tests. Some students spent over two hours on some sections, which
is a long time to sit and concentrate for any middle level student. We
are proud of all the work that students, parents, and teachers did to
ensure that everyone had a positive experience.

At the top of this letter, I noted that five of our veteran
teachers will be retiring at the end of this school year. Three of the
five teachers have the last name of Peterson, but none of them are
related. Nancy Ruth Peterson, one of our ninth grade English teachers
attended the Moscow School District as a student and then came back to
teach for her whole career at Moscow Junior High School. Gloria
Peterson, is one of our counselors, and Mike Peterson works as an eighth
grade Social Studies teacher and coach. Trisha Verdal serves the junior
high as the district's only Family and Consumer Sciences teacher, and
Carolyn Tragesser serves as our Gifted and Talented Facilitator.
Together, the five teachers have given over one hundred and twenty years
of service to Moscow Junior High School. =20

Our students have participated in hundreds of activities
this school year. We've watched them grow physically and academically,
and we've done our best to recognize their efforts for their successes.
Our last round of the "Learners-Today, Leaders-Tomorrow" recognition
process is underway at this time. If your son or daughter was nominated
and/or selected, you've already received a letter. In addition, we will
hold our Spring Activities recognition assembly on May 18th, and then
our final academic awards assembly will take place on June 2nd. All of
these activities are designed to celebrate the positive things that
happen at MJHS on a daily basis.

The last round of progress/deficiency reports will be
arriving in your mailbox late in the week of May 8. Seventh and eighth
grade students will all receive progress reports, and ninth grade
students who are at-risk academically will receive deficiency reports.
It is important to encourage your son/daughter to keep up with
schoolwork as we grind to a close, as we are not able to extend the
final grading period with an "Incomplete" grade option as we do for the
other three quarters.

I've tried to communicate on a bi-weekly basis this year
through the website and the MJHS Parent Support Team Listserve. This
is the first year we've tried this method of communication, and we've
found plenty of news to share. I've enjoyed the responses that you've
given me, and I encourage you to send me any feedback about how to make
the letter more useful.

=20

As always, please contact us with any questions or concerns that you
might have.

=20

Sincerely,=20

=20

Dale A. Kleinert, Principal

Moscow Junior High School
