Dear Parents,=20
=20
Our first week back from the break was very busy. Students seemed to
get into the swing of things early, and the pace seems to get faster
daily.
=20
Tomorrow, we will have a special presentation for all MJHS students
sponsored by the Latah County Human Rights Task Force. They are
bringing us a performance by "Living Voices", entitled "Native Vision".
It will demonstrate the experience of Native Americans in the 1930's and
1940"s. "Native Vision" focuses on the story of Alice Benally, a young
Navajo girl who is taken from her home and placed in a government-run
boarding school during the 1930's, as part of a government effort to
"civilize" Native American children into mainstream society. The story
will tell us about the internal and external conflicts faced by
generations of young Native Americans and parallel the broader history
of Native American life. The "Living Voices" experiences have always
been well-received at MJHS, and I'm sure this event will be educational
and memorable. Our thanks go to the Latah County Human Rights Task
Force for their sponsorship of the assembly.
=20
Also tomorrow night, we have invited all 8th grade students and their
parents to our annual "9th Grade Orientation" to be held in the
Multi-Purpose Room. The activity starts at 7:00 p.m., and should last
approximately one hour. Topics to be discussed include, high school
graduation requirements, the registration process, PE waivers, the ISAT
graduation requirements, credit by exam, and other important items.
Please plan to attend.
=20
If you are a ninth grade parent, you may have heard about the "Ninth
Grade Dance". This annual event is scheduled for April 7th, and will
take place in the MJHS Multi-Purpose Room from 8:00 until 11:00 p.m.
Attire for this dance is dress-up, not formal. MJHS does not endorse
tuxedo and formal rentals, or other activities such as expensive
dinners, limo rentals, or other activities that are inappropriate at
this age level. Students who plan to attend, may invite one guest that
is not a ninth grade student at MJHS. Permission slips are available in
the office, and must be signed by a parent before the invited guest
attends. If you have questions, or would like to chaperone, please call
Assistant Principal Kevin Hill.
=20
The quarter is rapidly drawing to a close. The last day of the third
quarter is April 6. There will be no school on April 7, and report
cards should be in the mail by April 13. Please contact us if you don't
receive a report card by April 17. =20
=20
Until next time, please feel free to contact us if we can help you in
any way,=20
=20
Sincerely,=20
=20

Moscow Junior High School
