Dear Parents,=20
=20
Here we are one week before Spring Break, and I know of 615 students =
that are very anxious for a week without school. The break will give us =
a chance to gear up for everything that is left to do, and there is a =
lot that will happen between now and the end of the year, not to mention =
this next week.
=20
Our second Winter Activities Awards Assembly will take place this coming =
Wednesday, March 8, at 9:55 a.m. This assembly will recognize students =
who have participated in the many after school activities that have =
taken place this winter. I've recently signed over 250 Award =
Certificates for students who've been involved. They are to be =
congratulated for their participation.
=20
On Thursday, March 9, our student body will receive a special treat at =
lunch. Our District Nutritionist, Mimi Pengilly, received a grant to =
provide additional training for our District's kitchen staff. As part =
of the grant, a chef will be preparing a special lunch. The menu will =
include pasta with a choice of marinara or Alfredo sauce as well as a =
choice of saut=E9ed garlic chicken and fresh steamed veggies. Caesar =
salad, bread stick, ice cream and milk will also be included for a =
nutritious and delicious meal. Our students and staff are excited about =
this special event.
=20
Right after spring break, there are two very important informational =
meetings for eighth and ninth graders. Wednesday, March 22, at 7:00 =
p.m., all ninth graders and their parents are invited to the tenth =
grade orientation at the Moscow High School Auditorium. On Monday, =
March 27, at 7:00 p.m., all eighth grade students and their parents are =
invited to the ninth grade orientation at the Moscow Junior High School =
Multi-Purpose Room. These two events will give us a chance to begin the =
pre-registration process for next year's classes. Please plan to =
attend.
=20
As you know, students have passed notes back and forth since paper was =
invented. We have begun seeing a new twist to the note-passing strategy =
that has been somewhat disruptive. Some students have begun using =
notebooks to write their notes, and the notebooks are being passed =
around the school, while other students continue to write notes in the =
notebooks, somewhat like a hard-copy "blog". The notebooks are called =
"Slam-books", and sometimes have negative information included about =
other students and/or their teachers. As always, we will confiscate =
notes and notebooks that are disruptive. Please encourage your child to =
stick to business and use their skills to improve their grades. =
Students have been warned that confiscated notebooks will be sent home =
to parents.=20
=20
Eighth and ninth grade students have recently received =
progress/deficiency reports. If you have questions, be sure to contact =
your child's teacher. Seventh grade students will receive progress =
reports this coming Tuesday, and you should receive them before the end =
of the week.
=20
We hope your child is having a successful year at MJHS. It is our goal =
to ensure a safe and successful experience. Please contact us if we can =
be of any assistance.
=20
The following page comes from our Facilities Task Force, and gives =
information about the upcoming facilities forums. We hope you can =
attend one of them.
=20
Sincerely,=20
=20

Moscow Junior High School

=20
The school district's Facilities Task Force is sponsoring two public =
forums to enable the community to voice their opinions about facilities:
=20
Russell Elementary School Auditorium
Monday, March 6, 7-9 p.m.
=20
And
=20
Moscow Junior High School
Multi-Purpose Room
Tuesday, March 7, 7-9 p.m.
=20
Those attending will hear architects speaking about conceptual designs =
for the options identified by the task force, will hear a presentation =
by Carole Jones, principal of the Palouse Creek Regional (Alternative) =
High School, and will have an opportunity to voice their hopes and =
concerns about the current facilities improvement process. We urge =
community members to attend at least one of the forums.=20
