Hi everyone. Here are the minutes from the January Parent Group meeting.
Of particular note is the upcoming Internet Safety Family Night at
5:30PM on Feb. 1st. This will be very different from past programs on
Internet safety. The students will actually participate in a computer
program designed to simulate Internet predators. It's a real eye opener.
At the end of the evening families will work together to create an
Internet use safety plan for themselves. Check out the website posted in
the minutes for a better idea of what the program will be about.

Charlie Gerke and Marie Miller will introduce an Internet safety program
at the Family Night activity. The program is designed to get both kids
and parents to work together and teach one another about Internet safety
while using the computer/Internet at home or elsewhere. The program
usually runs about 3 hours long . There is a free game offered through
the website called "MISSING" to help both parents and kids understand
how to respond if confronted by a potential child predator. For more

There was mention of possible door prizes, but we were unsure of who
could take this on at this time. The family night will be advertised in
the Principal's bi-weekly letter and a possible flyer that the kids can
take home. Also Kate Baldwin at the Daily News could be contacted to
help further getting the word out for the parents.
The Family Night will be will be broken into Parent Discussion Group and
