Dear Parents,

Happy Holidays! We're busily winding up the last week of school before
the holiday break. Teachers have projects, tests, and assignments that
will be due this week, and most students have visions of sugar plums
dancing in their heads. It is an exciting time, and everyone is doing
their best to succeed during these last few days before the break.

We have just completed our winter session of the ISAT Pilot Test.
Almost all students were able to try out the new test in a non-graded
practice session. If you are interested in trying out the test, you can
download tutorials and practice tests at: http://isat.caltesting.org
<http://isat.caltesting.org/>

Many students will be receiving small electronic items and new clothing
for Christmas. Last year we experienced a rash of missing/stolen items
following the holiday break. Please, please, label everything in such a
way that the label cannot be removed from any item that comes to school.
Better yet, we recommend that the small electronic items stay at home.
We attempt to recover any item that is stolen or left behind, but we
would much rather focus our efforts on education. (We don't make very
good police investigators)

Speaking of lost and found, we will be emptying out the lost and found
closet this Friday. It is amazing how much clothing we collect every
two weeks. Please remind your son or daughter to check to see if
anything they are missing was turned in. You are also welcome to dig
through the closet to see if anything looks familiar.

I would like to thank the Parent Support Team and their leader, Susan
Mahoney for a very successful shirt sale. Lots of students ordered
shirts, and they look great. The design was created by ninth grade
student, Andrew Weaver. Congratulations all!

The Parent Support Team also treated us to a wonderful breakfast last
week. The theme was "muffins", and we had a huge variety of delicious
treats from which to choose. Thank you to all who donated muffins and
drinks for our hungry and appreciative staff.

It is likely that students will be spending time with friends during the
holiday break. You need a good way to keep track of your child, and if
you haven't picked up your new edition of the Student/Parent Directory,
we still have lots left. The cost is $1.00 to offset the cost of
printing. They are available in the office during our regular business
hours.

We hope that your holiday break is safe and restful. School begins with
a full day on January 8, 2007, and I'm sure everyone will be raring and
ready to go!

Sincerely,

Dale Kleinert, Principal
