IRS and Fair Housing Act claims come to mind; what is the Statute of Limitations for those claims?

I am not aware of any particular obligation to retain records. I have suggested to my landlord clients that they retain records long enough for any statute of limitations related to the tenancy to expire. I believe would be a max of 5 years on a breach of contract claim.

Hi All,

I recently had a landlord client ask me if there is any obligation to retain their tenancy records for any specific period of time. This client is not a management company, but a self-managed property owner, although they do own a significant number of rentals. I've never seen or heard of any obligation to do so, would anyone have an opinion on that issue?
