[Iesaf_palouse] Forester's Fund Solicitation for IESAF annual meeting

Dear P/SR Members:

 

I am working with the IESAF Chairs, and other leaders to plan and
conduct the 2008 Forester's Fund. Our UI students are helping with our
area, and will provide most of the staffing of the FF auction and raffle
at the meeting.  We hope to have WSU student members join us in this.

 

There are lots of ways to solicit items for the FF, and many community
contacts that you might think of.  I have attached a list of potential
donors that Tera King of the PSR Chapter came up with, just as an
example to get you thinking.  Well be contacting everyone on this list
and some others for the PSR Chapter. You can ask for  items, a gift
certificate,  coupons, lodging, trips, etc.or for just a cash donation
if they want.to contribute this way.

 

Personally, I think that if you do not have a well-known personal
relationship with an individual or business, you should make the request
in person.  We are trying a limited letter via email to some of the
contacts on the PSR list to see how that works; and phone calls are
another possibility....I think email or phone calls from someone the
business knows will work, but not very well from a stranger. But, it
that is all you have time for, then try it.

 

Most of you have been to a FF raffle/auction before and know the wide
variety of items that show up.  Handmade items such as artwork, flies,
etc. always seem to do well, and smaller items such as hats work well
for raffle items and door prizes.

 

Please contact me at rmahoney at uidaho.edu with any questions.  And, let
me know what you have obtained for the FF.  You can bring your items
with you to the meeting next month, or if you want me to store them, you
can give them to me at the Reforestation Council meeting in Coeur d'
Alene next week, or ship/mail them to my home address at 1055 Newell Rd
