Dear Fellow CLC Members:  I receive so many emails every month from folks wanting to know more about me. I'm flattered and, quite frankly, can't blame them. Let's admit it - I'm a pretty interesting guy. These fans (some would label them as groupies while law enforcement classifies many of them as stalkers) want to know my dark secrets and true confessions.  

True Confession - I not only subscribe to the weekly periodical The New Yorker - but I actually read it. Hardy will confirm it. 

Dark Secret - I like the cartoons contained in the publication. I like to say that laughing out loud (LOL for the younger hip kids) at such animated jokes is an acquired taste.  The Lockhorns are a stitch, too. The husband is an alcoholic and the wife is a nag. Classic. 

In that vein, the attached cartoon from the December 24th & 31st, 2012 edition actually made me LMFAO. Of course, the cartoon is in no way reflective of my life! My house doesn't have a basement. (And you thought I was referring the wife portrayed in the cartoon. See what I did there? Benny Youngman would be proud.)

I think we all need a Trans-Dimensional One-Way Escape Pod from time to time. (That's deep man.) The CLC's monthly teleconference is one such way to escape, if even for an hour or so, the drudgery of the second (2nd) Monday of the month.  (See what did I did there? I tied it all back to the CLC.  And you thought I had gone off the farm again). 

This Monday's speaker is Paul McCullough, P.E., C.B.C. with SEA Limited in Tampa, Florida. Paul will present on "Concrete Construction - Failure Modes." I've always resorted to Viagra for my concrete failure modes but Paul will have some other very valuable information as well. Confession: I've had too much sugar and caffeine this morning.
