[RPPTL-constructionlaw] Arnie Speaks

CLC Nation: I apologize for failing to jump-into the CLC ListServ
discussion sooner but I was busy helping a Colonel from Northern Africa
with some money he has tied-up in an off-shore banking account. When MG
(or is it MQ?) calls, I jump.

Anywho... while I am all about edicts and unilateral decision making, I
believe that the sheer volume of emails supporting a free and open email
exchange on the CLC ListServ has expressed the will of the people (an
Arnie Spring of sorts). And not wanting to meet the same fate as Hosni
Mubarak and the other autocrats of the Middle East, I'm going with it
(my mamma didn't raise no fool).

In an effort to put the critics' concerns to rest (Ed and Jeff), this
very issue has been on the CLC's radar for several months. You may
recall we recently switched the hosting of the CLC's ListServ to
accommodate its new volume of subscribers / participants. Growing
pains.

Anyway, we got side tracked on the ListServ project when we shifted our
efforts to better managing the CLC monthly teleconference. You have to
admit this week's teleconference was "technically" much better with all
of the beeps of in-coming and departing callers being deleted as well as
the "master mute" during the CLE presentation.

While we are committed to tweaking the CLC ListServ system, the bottom
line "fix" is not regulation but simple etiquette. And when it comes to
etiquette just ask yourself this simple question: What Would Arnie Do?!
(WWAD?) That's right! WWAD!?

If the email is of any value (no matter how little) please send it to
the entire ListServ. An example would be when either Ed Whelan or Jeff
Regan responds to a question as to a matter of law. Now use your WWAD
protocol. That's right - wwad it up and throw it in the trash can. If
its personal (like a reply to a request for an expert) go off line and
send your reply only to the party making the inquiry. Make sense?
WWAD?! (or is it WWAD!?)

In closing, everyone must use your best judgment. Can I trust you to do
such? I know that I can. The CLC is group comprised of some amazing
talent (Ed and Jeff excepted) and everyone benefits from the exchange.

Thanks for everyone who expressed your opinion on the topic. Arnie.

P.S. - for those of you who recently tried your hand at comprising a
funny email, please review the attached article from the WSJ on comedic
writing. Leave it to the professionals.
