[CLC-Discussion] Residential contractor warranty

718.203 FS - the condo statute - provides different warranties and time periods from the developer to the purchaser of a unit. I have also heard about the 1 year warranty from a builder to the owner of a residential parcel, but have not seen any statutory authority. My guess is that might be something the builder gives to the owner directly as part of his business practice. Arlene

Steve: I've been asked this question probably 20-30 times and I have found no evidence that such a statute exists.

Subject: [CLC-Discussion] Residential contractor warranty

Hello folks,

I have a relative who is a residential contractor. He made reference to what he believed was a statutory requirement that residential builders provide a warranty of a minimum of one year to the owner. Most of my practice involves commercial payment issues (i.e. liens and surety bond claims). I reviewed Fl. Stat. ch 558 but did not see such a requirement.
Is anyone aware of such a statute and, if so, could you provide a citation?

Thank you very much.
