Aerial pictures circa 1990<BR><FONT color=black size=2
face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Craig,
<DIV> DOT has aerial photographs. They are located in
Tumwater by the Olympia airport. I don't know what years they would have for
your area. The photos would be taken at various times in various areas, usually
four to six years apart, depending on funding. They have some at the site but
others they need to bring in from another location so it is hard to just go
there and find what you are looking for. They have flight indexes for each
flight series, that if you have them, you can identify almost exactly what photo
you want and have them have the reel for you when you go in. </DIV>
<DIV> I have the information at my office which tells me when
they had a series done in each county. Some of the different series are taken at
different elevations. The ones with good resolution are taken at 12,000 feet.
Others are at a higher elevation. Also, the older ones don't have as good a
resolution as the newer ones. You can get nice blow ups or stereoscopic pairs
that can be read by an expert using special equipment that gives a 3D effect.
Sometimes I get the blowups if what I am looking for is obvious, so I can show
them to a judge. If they need to be interpreted, then you need the stereoscopic
pairs. Also, make sure you get certified copies. The extra cost is minimal and
are admissible as they are. </DIV>
<DIV> Another advantage to the blowups is a surveyor can
create a scale using the photos(measuring from known points within the photo),
and then can locate things on the photo in conjunction with their mapping,
usually within an accuracy of a foot or two depending on the quality of the
photo.</DIV>
<DIV> Another way to get the photos is by going through a guy
by the name of Terry Curtis. I think he is at DNR and hires out as a consultant.
He can find the photos for you and interpret them, if necessary.</DIV>
<DIV> I have his contact information at my office if you want
to call me sometime. I also have the listing of when photos were taken in
certain areas and at what elevation. I can probably tell you what series would
be available for you area. Photos around 1990 would be medium quality, and would
be in black and white.</DIV>
