Or am I thinking about this the wrong way?<br><br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:tahoma,sans-serif;font-size:small;display:inline">
My gut also says the homestead exemption does not apply because the
parents executed a mortgage on the property, and the child's interest is
subject to that mortgage. Is this correct? Or does the adult child
