I don’t think you need an assignment. The thing that needs to happen in the real estate records is the reconveyance of the deed of trust. The borrower can pay the money to the lender’s revocable living trust, or to the lender’s sister, or to whomever…if the lender is satisfied with who has been paid, he can then reconvey the deed of trust, and everyone is happy. 😊

Happy Friday afternoon.
Client lent money secured by real property with a deed of trust (he is beneficiary). He wants it paid back to his revocable living trust, instead of him personally. Would I record an assignment with the county or what is the process? This is a first for me. Thank you.
