I received an email from Phyllis Prather (She is the Excise Tax Lead for
Snohomish County) with the following information. I read her email to
advise that the Washington DOR is cracking down on REETA uniformity. I
could be wrong but seeing this post makes me think it will be happening to
more of us going forward.

Beginning March 1, 2022, Snohomish County Treasurer Excise will be paying
particular attention to the Excise Tax Affidavits submitted for electronic
and manual transfers. Excise will reject transfers for incomplete or
improperly submitted affidavits, including but not limited to the following
areas:

   - Use the most current revised forms provided on the Department of
   Revenue Forms site:
   https://dor.wa.gov/get-form-or-publication/forms-subject/real-estate-excise-tax

Single Location – 9/17/21

Multi Location – 9/23/21

Mobile Home – 10/29/21

   - Submit *manual *transfer Real Estate Excise Tax Affidavits on 8.5 X 14
(legal) sized paper, using a minimum font size of *8*.
   - Manual transfers require at least one affidavit with original, “wet,”
signatures. Electronic signatures are acceptable with electronic transfers
   only.
   - Telephone numbers, in sections 1 and 2 of the affidavit, *are*
*required* and will be returned for completion, if missing from the
affidavit. The Department of Revenue recently reminded the counties the
telephone numbers are required and the affidavit is considered incomplete
   without them.

Thank you for your attention to these requirements. If you have any
questions, please contact me or any of the Excise Team Specialists.
