[WSBARP] Forest lands

Bryce makes a very good point. This is just a suggestion for newer lawyers. Many of the challenges with real property work require dealing with staff in the Treasurer’s, Assessor’s, Auditor’s, and Community Development offices. It is to your clients’ advantages to make friends in these departments, form good working relationships with them, and have open lines of communication when they know something you don’t. Which, in my case, is basically, always. Often, they are happy when a lawyer asks for help or direction respectfully, as opposed to what they sometimes get from other lawyers.

Call the Clallam County assessor and asked for them to send you the documentation you need to fill out to keep property in Forest land Designation. Then fill that out and submit it together with the excise tax affidavit marking the box yes on the classification question. Then based on your response they will determine whether or not the property qualifies for continuance

I have client in a divorce needing to deed real property in Clallam County designated as forest land. In researching this I was told that there needed to have a continuance form signed - but can't find it ? I found that the standard Excise Tax Affidavit has boxes to check and found another different Excise Tax Affidavit (attached) -anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks Mike
