Julie:

You mention a fee up front.  Is that a one-time fee?  Would you mind sharing the amount of that fee?  Also, is there any sort of monthly or ongoing fee regardless of the number of recordings?  If so, can you share with us that amount?  Thank you.

Our firm has been using Simplifile and we record everything online in King, Pierce, Snohomish, Kitsap, and I think more counties are available. There are two options, pay a larger fee up front for a $5 fee per recording or pay less and it is $10/ recording. We pass the fee onto the client (less than the process server fee we used to pass along). We never really mailed in recordings though.

King county also allows online recording through their own website. You have to get an account set up with them. There is a fee per recording, but I cannot remember what it is. I hated their system though.
