Great idea! Please make sure to include the City of Seattle’s ordinance in the discussion. There is much confusion over the interpretation and reach of Section 4(c).

Great question Travis and we need to talk about these issues.

In three weeks, members of the RPPT and ADR sections will hold a panel discussion about COVID and leasing disputes, and best online practices to address them. Details to follow in the next couple of days, but in the meantime mark your calendar for noon on May 19.

Thank you for your post.

Geoffrey, sorry, I did not think my question was political. I have landlord clients and tenant clients just trying to navigate the ever-changing landscape. We’re all just trying to understand what the rules actually are.

That may be because the list serve is not really intended for political discussions but rather professional exchanges.

Subject: [WSBARP] Seattle City Council CB 119766

Hi all. As the Washington member of our firm, I’m looking for information on the subject Seattle City Council bill. This is the second order, following the Mayor’s earlier order, adopted by the Council on April 13 and signed by the Mayor on April 17. There was a bit of press on the 13th, but none since then even though the Mayor signed it. It contains some pretty aggressive requirements on rent relief for and repayment by “small business” and “nonprofit” commercial tenants. I’m very surprised I haven’t seen more “buzz” about this if it has become effective. I’d love to hear if members of this list have any understanding whether or not this ordinance is in fact in place at this point. Thanks.
