Hi All,

I have a colleague in Colorado who's reached out to me because Colorado is looking at a squatter law similar, apparently, to what Washington passed last year (SB5388). The Colorado Bar has concerns, but they've been told Washington has had no issues with their law. Their concern with the Colorado bill is that it is a de facto eviction statute without court process. They're trying to get a sense whether their legislators' reliance on what they've heard about Washington is well-founded.

Is anyone here familiar at all with the bill and/or know of any issues that had come up, legal challenges to its constitutionality, or any other information about how the process is actually working? If you're willing to discuss, I'll pass your information on.

Thanks in advance!
Kim
