[WSBARP] wrong written payoff - and closing halted

They released the deed of trust, not the note.  But I would also point out that if you want that result based on some sort of estoppel theory (which I don’t see, FWTIW), then they wouldn’t refund money if overpaid.

Just got a question from a realtor.  Written payoff from bank issued, closing done but after receiving payoff check the bank is saying “We need $500 more”.
I would be tempted to say “you release your DOT without the $500 or you will be sued” modification, laches, not sure what theory.
anyone have a different answer?
