[WSBARP] Canadian notary?

Yes. I’ve had deeds to Washington property notarized in many different
countries. Canada doesn’t use apostilles (didn’t sign the convention), so
you will need to use a notary who can handle the Canadian authentication
procedure for you, and allow time for that process. See
http://www.notaries.bc.ca/resources/scrivener/winter2003/12_4_6.pdf for
more on Canadian notary process.

Subject: [WSBARP] Canadian notary?

Listmates, in the interests of extremely cost-effective “research” I
thought I would seek input here as to the following: Can a Canadian notary
public acknowledge a deed regarding property in WA? I believe the answer
is “yes” per http://apps.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=64.08.040
(acknowledgements “may be taken in any foreign country before any . . .
notary public”).

But that’s not consistent with my prior understanding or even practice.
So your thought are appreciated. Thank you!

Craig
