Subject: [WSBAPT] Timeline for transferring property to RLT

Hi, Listmates.

I’m working on an estate plan which involves creating a revocable living trust that converts to an irrevocable trust at death, with the irrevocable to provide for support and maintenance of an adult child. Some of the trust property is
real property. Trustor unexpectedly might be traveling for a bit, and not be in a position to get some Quit Claims notarized for a few months (uncertain how long possible trip might be). How soon after making the RLT does the administrative transfer of the
real property to the trust have to take place? Is a declaration of intent to transfer property into the trust sufficient to make the trust effective, even if (worst-case scenario) the Trustor died in a plane crash before they could do the actual transfer?

Thanks for any insight.
