A resident agent is appointed to receive service of process. RCW 11.36.010(6). There is nothing conferring upon the resident agent the authority to do anything beyond receiving papers.</div>

Could the resident agent be delegated additional authority by the personal representative? I'm not aware of that ability, and I don't think a bank would accept it. In my experience the bank will always want to see the person named in the Letters Testamentary
physically present in order to open the account, in compliance with the Patriot Act Section 326 (Know Your Customer rules) and corresponding regs.</div>
