<div class="pre" style="margin: 0; padding: 0; font-family: monospace"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">(I assume the UW already has the body?)</span><br /><br /><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">If they don't want any studies done, then I don't think there is anything the family can do to stop that. </span><br /><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">But, if they are just asking that the ashes be given to them when they are done, why don't they just call the UW and ask for them.</span><br /><br /><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">My understanding is that at the time that the donor signed the application, they give instructions to the UW so that the UW can know what to do with the remains.</span><br /><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">He could have told them at that time to give the remains to his next of kin (or whoever) when they were done. </span><br /><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">So, I don't know why the UW would care what happens to the ashes so long as there isn't a big family dispute.</span><br /><br /><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Anyway, that's where I would start.
