<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:12.0pt">I’ve always distinguished between known and unknown by checking the mail for known and by publishing the probate notice to creditors for three consecutive weeks for unknown creditors to come forward. Four months
after that first publication, there is no obligation to pay a creditor who comes forward after that. I had a case once where a hospital presented a bill past the four month period and I wrote to them that the time to present creditor claims had passed. I never
heard back. I think it was for around $30,000. <o:p></o:p></p>
