<p class="MsoNormal">I concluded that the family exception did not apply to me as PR because I was a non-family member.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">I engaged Keith Wells of Woodinville Law. He is a licensed gun dealer and can appraise values as well.

<p class="MsoNormal">I had the firearms delivered to Keith’s office and he formalized the transfer to the heirs.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">He can also advise on how to have the firearms delivered without incurring liability by the PR.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Based on my review of RCW 9.41.113(h) - Firearms sales or transfers, it appears that when the gun is acquired by operation of law on the death of the owner there is no background check requirement for non-pistols. For pistols, the transferee has
60 days to notify the DOL that the transferee intends to retain possession of the pistol.<o:p></o:p></p>
