Oregon has Rule 5.5(c)(4) that allows temporary practice if related to your practice in your licensed jurisdiction (an exception to unauthorized practice of law). The issue is whether doing a will for your daughter is related to your WA practice. <br>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color:#1F497D">You can draft a will for your daughter in Washington, or in Bezerkistan, if you feel competent to do so. You are not practicing law in either of those jurisdictions simply by doing such a will.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color:#1F497D">You can even ethically leave yourself a bequest, since she is related to you.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color:#1F497D">But if the disposition is unnatural (somebody is getting cut out), or if you are uncertain about your knowledge of Oregon law, you would be better off referring it to an Oregon attorney.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
