<p>A client had a short term marriage over 40 years ago. Somehow
her name got changed on her social security account to her
husband's. She has re-married twice since, changing her name from
maiden to new H and back again each time. Now she is applying for
SS, and they tell her she needs to legally go back to her first
husband's name with a court ordered name change, to get her SS she
paid into all these 40 years in all those different names. So
yes, in current times it needs to be done right.<br>

brother did this after college, he is now 73, but he
finally did a name change to make sure no problem with
SS and passport. But for a long time even SS took his
pseudonym and issued a new card just on his word. But
that was pre 9/11. These days you cannot even make a
cash deposit at BOA without showing ID unless the
tellers know you really really really well, so get a
legal name change.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
