<p class="MsoNormal">A resigned will simply becomes a new later-dated document which happens to contain earlier signatures. If all the required formalities are followed, with a new affidavit, you’ll have a new will and codicil. But at that point, why not

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Garamond","serif"">I did codicils for a married couple whose wills didn’t need a total re-do. Their wills were identical but for switched names. I kept a copy of one of the wills to use for the
codicil and I intended to get a copy of the other will when they came in to sign. Now post-signing, they are unable to find the original wills, including the one I copied.
