[WSBAPT] death of beneficiary during probate

Hello list mates,

Mother passed away and PR opened up a probate. The mother's will states everything goes to the three children in equal shares, per capita.  One of the children (a son) died after the mother passed away about a year later while the probate was still open.  The son still gets his share, but it passes according to the son's will, correct?  Or to his issue if he didn't have a will.
