Listmates,

I'd appreciate hearing your experience with medallion signatures. From time
to time, a bank or brokerage requires a PR or beneficiary to obtain a
medallion signature on their paperwork in order to obtain the proceeds of
an account. However, in the few times this has come up, I have never seen a
PR or beneficiary actually be able to obtain a medallion signature. The
entity purporting to provide medallion signatures generally wants documents
or assurances the party can't provide. As a result we end up arguing with
the original institution until they waive the medallion requirement.

Have any of you had success guiding clients through the process of
obtaining a medallion signature? or tips and tricks for navigating the
process when one is requested?

Any thoughts or experience are appreciated..

Warmly,
Laura
